Day 2

Rapid 21 to Upper Moembo

Wake up at around 7h00. Tea, coffee and continental breakfast will be prepared by our staff.
Today’s rafting section will take you from rapid #21 to a rapid called « Lower Moemba » (25 km downstream). The Zambezi will offer on this section some challenging grade 5 rapids like, « Open Season », « Narrows 1 and 2 », « Chimamba falls » and « Upper Moemba ». But progressively, as you drift downstream, the tranquil pools in between the rapids will become longer, giving you more time to enjoy the splendour of the Batoka gorge and fish as you drift quietly down the river. We will have lunch at mid-day on the side of the river.

We will raft all the way to Upper Moemba, run it and take out on a sandy beach below the rapid. We will set up camp here for the night. Tea, Coffee, drinks and snacks. Dinner will be served around a camp fire on the beach.

Day 3

Ghostrider

Wake up at around 7am, breakfast on the beach. Pack up of the camp. Our day will start with two major portages around un-runnable rapids called ‘Lower Moemba’ and ‘Dam Site’. Shortly after the last portage, our last grade V rapid of the trip will be called ‘Ghost Rider’. Downstream from Ghost Rider the river mellows out and the fishing gets excellent!
We will stop and lunch half way. At around 15h, we will stop on a beach close to a good fishing spot and set up camp for the night. Overnight in tents on the beach.

Day 4

Relaxing in the Gorge

Wake up at around 7am, breakfast and pack up of the camp. The section of river we will run today is pretty easy with a few grade III rapids all the way. A lot of time will be spent fishing in the quiet pools between the rapids. The gorge slowly opens up and more wildlife will be seen like Crocodiles, Hippos, birds.
We will paddle for approximately 25km today. Our camp will be set on a beach close to a good fishing spot. Dinner around the campfire. Overnight in tents on the beach.

Day 5

Lake Kariba

We will run our final stretch of river today, taking us all the way to the tip of Lake Kariba. The Batoka gorge totally opens up giving space to a whole new scenery. We will pass by the town of Matetsi and Deka on the Zimbabwean side of the river. Finally we will arrive at Bimbi lodge, marking the end of the trip! Cold beers and a swimming pool will await you! We will reach the lodge by mid-day giving us time to relax. Dinner will be served at the lodge and nights will be spent in chalets.
