We will
pick you up around 8am for tea and coffee at our check-in spot,
next to the Zambian side of the Victoria Falls. Your guide will
give you a complete trip briefing regarding the logistics and
the safety of the trip. Your gear for the overnight will be
loaded onto our vehicles.
You will
then walk down to the boiling pot, directly below the Victoria
Falls where your rafts and guides will be waiting for you.
After practicing
your paddling and getting used to your guide quick commands,
you will start rafting from rapid #1 to rapid #23. (25km) Some
of the bigger rapids run today are, #4 Morning Glory, #5 Stairway
to heaven, #6 Devil’s toilet bowl, #7 Gulliver’s
travel, #8 Midnight Dinner, #11 Overland truck eater, #13 the
Mother, #15 the Washing machine, #18 Oblivion.
At mid-day
we will stop below rapid #10 to take a break and have some Lunch.
Upon arrival
on the beach at rapid #21, the camp will be ready and you will
be welcomed by our staff with cold drinks and snacks. All you
have to do is enjoy a relaxed evening on the beach, eating and
drinking around a friendly fire.
Overnight
in tents on the beach. (Mosquito proof tents, sleeping bags
and mattresses provided.)
Day
2:
Wake up
at around 7h30am. Tea, coffee and full English breakfast will
be prepared by our staff.
Today’s
rafting section will take you from rapid #21 to the rapid called
« Lower Moemba » (25 kilometres), The Zambezi will
offer on this section some more challenging grade 5 rapids like,
« Open Season », « Narrows 1 and 2 »,
« Chimamba falls » and « Upper Moemba ».
But progressively, as you drift downstream, the tranquil pools
in between the rapids will become longer, giving you more time
to enjoy the splendour of the Batoka gorge.
We will
have lunch at mid-day on the side of the river.
We will
take out below rapid Upper Moemba and start our ascent to the
top of the gorge, where a magnificent view, cold drinks and
snacks will be waiting for you. Enjoy a lovely African evening
while our staff will prepare a tasty barbecue dinner.
Overnight
at the top of the gorge. (Mosquito proof tents, sleeping bags
and mattresses provided.)
Day
3:
Wake up
at around 7h30am. Tea, coffee and full English breakfast will
be prepared by our staff. We will drive back to town through
traditional Zambian villages. Our vehicles will drop you back
at your accommodation at around 12h30.
This
River Trip includes:

- Special
trips can be tailor-made upon request.
- Iit
is possible to arrange a helicopter take out. If this activity
is requested on this particular trip, the second night camp
will be set at the bottom of the gorge adjacent to rapid «
Upper Moemba ». Helicopter take out is not included
in our tariff, please do not hesitate to contact us for further
information
- This
Rafting multi day trip only runs during the Low Water season,
(Approximately from mid-July until mid-July.)
What’s
needed?
Shoes
or sandals, mosquito repellent, torch, warm jacket, rain jacket
(during the rainy season), quick drying shorts, sun cream,
hat, long pants and small toiletry bag.
