Abseil
Zambia will collect you from your lodge either in Zambia or Zimbabwe.
You will then travel to our site where you will be met by our
friendly staff. For those travelling across from Zimbabwe the
US$10,00 day visa is included.
Coffee
or tea with freshly baked muffins are served while we get to know
each other.
An instructor will brief you on the safety and
proper use of all equipment and will tell you about the gorge
and surrounding area. Then on you go to the
abseil tower for a "dummy" run on the use of the equipment.
The
first activity is the 54-meter abseil down
fifth gorge. As you edge backwards over the abyss our instructor
will be there to give guidance and help control your decent
with the safety rope.
The
second activity is the high wire. In a full body harness you run and
leap out over a 100 meter gorge, you whiz out almost 80 meters
to the far side and then we pull you back in. Reverse the harness
and you can do the superman. A run and forward dive from the
platform and you fly like a bird.
You
can do each of these activities as many times as you like on a
full day. The second time you do it why not grab your camera and
take some photos as you hang 100 meters in the air. The view down
the majestic gorge toward the falls and the mighty Zambezi river
is incredible.
For
your next activity you can try the 'Rap Run Down', a face down
abseil. Once rigged up, with the ropes attached to your back you
can walk face first off the abseil tower and then run forwards
down the 54m-rock face.
After
a lunch of cold meat and salads you are now ready for the big
one:
The
worlds first gorge swing. As seen on TV
all over the world including the‘Amazing Race’.
In
a full body harness you can either walk off forward or fall backwards.
You can even do it with a friend. The free fall is just over 50
meters before the rope swings you at 120km per hour across the
gorge. Full day clients can do this as often as they like, try
to break the record of 22 in a day.
After
the gorge swing you are welcome to return to any of the other
activities as often as you wish. Then End the day with a magnificent
sunset, cool drinks and cold beers,
